Fundamental Principles Of Treatment

  • Chemical Dependency-Addiction / Alcoholism is a Brain Disease
  • Chemical Dependency is a combination of causative factors that are genetic, biological, neuro-chemical, psychological, and social in nature.
  • Codependency is often and underlying factor.
  • Addiction / Alcoholism effects and undermines the entire social system of the identified patient by causing abnormal adaptations to: family, employment and peer relations.
  • Confidence, Respect, Self-worth and Trust are major issues in treatment of both the patient and the family.
  • Recovery requires Self-Determination

Treatment must be multi-faceted and comprehensive to be successful.

Our philosophy is not to be punitive for substance relapse during treatment, after all this is treatment aimed and preventing relapse.  No one is discharged for using providing they are making progress towards their treatment plan goals.  In addition, no one is asked to leave treatment at the end of the eigth week period because their money or insurance has run out.

All research indicates that the best outcomes in substance dependence treatment are related to time in treatment.  Our goal is to provide motivation, promote abstinence, build adequate skills for contented sobriety; to keep someone in the treatment process long enough to acuire personal and community supports for maintaining a maximum quality of life and ongoing growth and happiness.
